Still Grappling With Religion

Today Pumpkin asked my mom if my mom knew her when she was just a baby. My mom replied, "I met you on the day that you were born!"

Offended, Pumpkin stated, "I wasn't born! I'm Jewish!"

Imagining that Pumpkin had ideas of our people having been hatched or beamed down, I figured I'd try to clear things up for her. "You know, Sweetie, everyone is born. Jewish people too."

Angrily she retorted, "I'm not being born again! I'm Jewish!"

Maybe she does have a handle on this.

That's awesome! Good for her. I wouldn't want to be born again either.

She's got Readers Digest material written all over her. Or maybe Jewish Times material. ;)

Funny!

That is hilarious. The religion issue became highly comical at our place around the holidays. Since they celebrate both, they were a bit confused, but lauded it over their friends anyway.

Same deal as kgirl at our house... Little A. wants to put everyone in a category, but for her, there are only two - Jewish and Christian. A few months ago, after watching some TV, I was asked, "Mommy, is Scooby-Doo Jewish or Christian?" Sigh...

LOL, that was so funny I almost fell out of my chair. Can you imagine the conversations that are going to happen around our house when the time comes?!!!
